Medical, Construction & LaPaz Team Update!

The medical team arrived safely this morning about 3:00am back to Entre Rios after doing a clinic.

Today is a day of rest for the construction and medical team. They are preparing to leave Entre Rios early in the morning. They will meet up with the LaPaz team tomorrow.

Please read the comments from the last two days post for more of an update. Also, we would love to hear from anyone on the LaPaz, Construction & Medical Team.

What a week it has been for the teams! God has graciously poured out His mercy and love during this time! I cannot wait to hear more of what God did during their stay.

Please continue to pray for all the teams. Their trip is not over and I'm sure God has much more in store for them the next few days.

Here's an update from the La Paz team. We received an email from Emily MacAgy (Gulf Coast), so I'll give you the highlights (this is my condensed version of most of the email):

Saturday they arrived at El Puente, which is near Yanacocha, for the youth retreat. The girls played soccer with the Bolivian girls and had some "bonding time". Sunday night, Daryn was bringing the message and Pablo was interpreting for him (this was the case the entire time there). The kids decided that Daryn and Pablo had basically become the same person, so their name is now "Pablyn Darblo". They had a talent show and then a bonfire where Andy (a Bolivian friend) taught them the Bolivian chicken dance, and they taught him the American chicken dance. They learned some Bolivian games, which Emily said she can't wait to teach everyone here.

On Monday, they left for Caranavi. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Emily and others from the La Paz team spent time in the orphanage. They played games with the kids and had a scavenger hunt. Wednesday night, they had a huge bonfire and fireworks and sparklers to celebrate the 4th of July. They left Caranavi on Thursday morning to head back to La Paz, and the bus broke down, causing a 2-1/2 hour delay. This morning was spent at El Hospital del Niño in La Paz, ministering to burn victims. The members of the team that experienced this were moved to tears - Emily said it's something she won't forget any time soon. She cried all the way back to the hotel.

I know this is a long post, but I'll end it with the last of Emily's email, copied directly into this post:

Thank you so much for all your prayers, you don't know how much they mean to us and how much they help us through the scary times and the hard times. Prayer is like our food here. I think we pray more than we eat. God has truly been with us, and most of us really don't want to leave. I can't wait to see you all and share the rest of my stories with you!

Please pray for us as we near the end of our trip. We're going to be so sad when we leave.

Love in Christ,
Emily

The bus broke down from Caranavi to La Paz. We were fairly close to Caranavi so one of our drivers took a cab back to get a mechanic. It was only a few hour delay. Talk about being on a bus for so long.

The team really has a good attitude. We sang songs and became real Bolivians by using the bathroom camping style on the side of the road. Some of us have been suffering altitude sickness since returning to La Paz (headache is the biggest problem, some dizziness, and there has been some oxygen supplied for us).

Today the team visited a children´s hospital for burn victims. I was unable to go due to being sick still, but I have heard positive reports. God is doing a wonderful work here in Bolivia. Some of us are becoming better with our Spanish and building lasting relationships. I really don´t want to leave.

Thank you for all the prayers and faithfullness. We couldn´t be here unless you all have helped us, cared for us, loved us, prayed for us, and supported us these past months.
Love Eve

Email from Daryn Kinney (La Paz team leader) to Lisa Chin:

Hi Lisa!
Sorry for not calling you today. Before I knew it it was past 5 o clock. God has been doing so much in and through this team. We have had the privilege of serving at a youth camp (3 days), visiting an orphanage (3 days), digging out the side of a mountain for a water tank, teaching at a training center, serving and leading two youth meetings, going to a children´s hospital, and so much more. The team is stepping up with great boldness and compassion - loving on our Bolivian brothers and sisters, laughing, crying, serving, rejoicing, learning...

Many have shared their testimony. This trip has been a lot of fun! Humbling and faith building, trips like this transform our understanding of the Kingdom of God. Everyone is healthy and eager to serve.

Tomorrow the construction and medical team arrive. We have a youth and parent meeting the first half of the day, then hit the streets with our skits and the gospel. Sunday we lead the service (children´s and the main meeting), then help the church move stuff for their expansion in their auditorium, then we have a farewell party. Monday we chill and shop and leave - all night flight!

Thank you for your prayers!

See you soon,

Daryn
