I heard from Tim about 6:30pm today. The construction team is working with a few guys from the Bolivian church to make a structure to hold a second story in the mission house. They are working from about 9:00am to 5:00pm. Tim was saying the process is slow because of lack of supplies and equipment. We really have it easy in the United States. If a job requires using a chain saw, we get a chain saw. There, if you need a chain saw for a job, you might get a hand saw. And, if you are fortunate enough, you may get a chain saw. He says, everything is going well. No injuries... However, he did say that Jordan hit his finger with a hammer a few times! He is okay though!
I believe the medical team saw about 60 people today. And, they will be going out tomorrow to do a clinic. I think Tim said the medical team would be spending the night and coming back the next day.
The team is eating bread in the morning, rice and potatoes for lunch and rice and potato soup for dinner.
The above is a picture of the mission house the team is staying at.
Tonight, they were going to have worship and a time of sharing.
Let's continue to pray for these teams! I'm going to fast on Tuesday in effort to spend time praying for the teams.
Does anyone have any news on the LaPaz team?

Aw, poor Jordan! :o)
So, have they had rooster soup yet? I heard that was the speci-ality in Entre Rios/Tarija in '03.
So far, no rooster soup! Or maybe the chunks of potato really are rooster!!
Hello, Metro people! This is Jack Bush in Athens. As you all know, David is on the trip with your folks, the only non-Metro person going to Bolivia. He ended up getting stuck in Cochabamba Friday night. From what he told us he had it pretty nice - put up in a fancy hotel, with a steak dinner and good night's sleep. Staying behind was not such a sacrifice after all. He called to let us know he'd made it safely to Entre Rios.
Tammy and everyone, thanks so much for doing this blog to keep us up to date on what's happening. It can be hard sometimes to have David so far away in Miami. We weren't able to see him off and won't be there when he gets back. Having regular updates is a real blessing.
We sure do miss our friends in Orlando, but we've also got a wonderful new church family here. The church is growing quickly, lots of students and people not familiar with Sovereign Grace. Lots of opportunity to serve and reach out. We love it!
Keep the news coming, and thank you again!
Jack, Susan Kipper and Daniel Bush
The pic is great Tammy! What a blessing! Oh my, they must all be hungry! Derek told them to take pop tarts and now I see why!! ha I am sure the good that is happening outweighs the different surroundings!
I read somewhere, that a lady switched from the LaPaz team to the medical team at the last minute, because she is a nurse. Does anyone know if that was Rita Hopper? I know her from my oldest daughter, Holly, and family being in St. Pete for 10 years. Just wondering.....
Good to hear from the Bushes!! Chip has said several times what a great blessing David has been to the team!
Chip has also been very pleased with the unity, cooperation, and hard work of each person. Let's pray for God's continued favor to accomplish His purposes through them!
I bet PopTarts never tasted so good!
Yes, her name is Rita Hopper.
Jack, I'm glad you are able to read this blog! The construction team is glad they have David and I know they are all building great relationships with the Bolivians as well as with each other.
Hey Peg,
It was Rita Hopper who switched. As a matter of fact, when everyone found out where they were going, Rita was surprised that she was on the construction team and not the medical team. She thought maybe it was because she was "older" and that it might be more difficult for her with the conditions that the medical team will face. I guess they don't know Rita! If anyone is up for the physical challenge, it's Rita! Anyway, God, in His sovereignty worked it out!
By the way, I feel like I'm a Bolivia-news junkie! I must check out this website half a dozen times a day! It's really great to hear little tidbits here and there from everyone, though!
Paula
Paula,
I am right there with you on being a "Bolivia blogspot junkie"!!! :-)
The La Paz team so far has eaten Mushroom soup, Asparagus soup, some type of vegetable soup, chicken, pollo peña (rotisserie chicken), french fries (Bolivian style), different fruits and vegetables (papaya, plantains, bananas, tangerines-mandarins), beef, lots of pan/bread. Eve really loves the bread and butter (pan y mantequilla). It smells so delicious and is so fresh.
